Job Description
As the Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of cloud and core infrastructure services. This role focuses on delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing systems while supporting business growth and continuous improvement.You will also provide mentoring within the team and occasionally support complex 3rd line technical issues, ensuring incidents are resolved professionally and in line with service expectations.???????This is an excellent opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies while continuing to develop your technical skills across a broad infrastructure environment.The successful candidate must be commutable to the head office Sunderland.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain cloud and infrastructure services Manage and optimise Microsoft Azure environments and cloud resources Ensure system availability, reliability, and security through monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery planning Respond to and resolve major incidents and technical issues, performing root cause analysis where required Implement security best practices, vulnerability management, and compliance controls Develop automation and infrastructure-as-code solutions to streamline operations Provide technical support and mentoring to colleagues and Service Desk teams Support IT integrations and onboarding of new organisations, including due diligence and infrastructure planning Work with third-party providers and vendors to maintain service delivery Maintain clear technical documentation and change management processes
Skills & Experience
3 years’ plus experience in a Cloud or Infrastructure Engineering role Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and customer service skills ITIL awareness
Technical Expertise
Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage, security, cost management) Microsoft 365 / Entra ID / Active Directory / Group Policy Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs) Security platforms including firewall management and endpoint protection Microsoft Intune and endpoint management Backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g. Veeam) Monitoring, automation, and infrastructure optimisation
Desirable
Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 certifications Experience with cloud automation and scripting Experience supporting complex infrastructure environments
