The Business: A long-standing, well-respected accountancy practice in York is looking for a
Client Manager
who can lead from the front, build real relationships, and keep both clients and the team feeling supported and on track. The Role: This isnt a sit in the corner and crunch numbers kind of job. Youll be the trusted advisor your clients rely on and guide the team day by day. Key Responsibilities: Manage a portfolio of clients and build strong, long-term relationships
Act as the main point of contact, ensuring clients receive excellent service
Review accounts and work produced by the team, maintaining high standards
Lead, support and develop team members
Spot opportunities to offer additional services and add value for clients
Oversee workflow, deadlines and quality of output
Attend client meetings and handle both routine and more challenging conversations
Liaise with the board and other managers to keep everything running smoothly
What Youll Need: ACA / ACCA qualified and Practice experience is a must
Strong accounting knowledge + a good grasp of tax fundamentals
Confident people manager who enjoys developing others
Excellent client skills
including the tougher conversations when needed
Comfortable with Excel, Word and accounting software (IRIS experience = a bonus)
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
A practical, hands-on attitude when things get busy
Ability to balance the detail with the bigger picture
