We are recruiting a Childrens Residential Support Worker for a temp to perm opportunity within a childrens residential home in Ilkeston, supporting vulnerable children and young people with learning difficulties. This Childrens Residential Support Worker role offers the opportunity to work with a specialist provider delivering high-quality residential care. The Childrens Residential Support Worker will support children with learning difficulties, emotional needs, and daily living skills within a structured residential environment. Role Overview
As a Childrens Residential Support Worker, you will provide consistent, child-centred support within a residential setting. Experience working with children in a residential home is desirable, however candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered. This Childrens Residential Support Worker position offers a temp to perm pathway, full training provided, the opportunity to enrol on the Childrens Residential Level 3 qualification, and clear progression opportunities for ambitious candidates. Shift patterns for the Childrens Residential Support Worker role include day shifts, early and late shifts, with some sleep-in shifts required as part of the rota. Key Responsibilities
Childrens Residential Support Worker
Deliver high-quality care as a Childrens Residential Support Worker
Support children and young people with learning difficulties and additional needs
Assist with personal care, daily routines, and household tasks
Promote independence, life skills, and positive behaviour support
Build trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and professionals
Follow care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
Maintain accurate records and comply with safeguarding and health & safety requirements
Requirements
Experience working with children in a residential home is desirable
Transferable experience working with children or young people (education, SEN, youth work, care, support work) will be considered
Experience supporting children with learning difficulties or additional needs
Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including early, late, day, and sleep-in shifts
Strong communication skills and a calm, professional approach
Willingness to commit to a temp to perm Childrens Residential Support Worker role
Child and Adult Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service preferred, but not essential
Full UK driving licence preferred
