Summary Purpose

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded, execution-oriented technology professional to architect the future of wine trading technology from rebuilding our trading and settlement platform from the ground up, to creating an integrated ecosystem of data, analytics, and market intelligence tools that support customers across their entire business workflow.

Liv-exs product, tech and data functions are closely coupled and co-dependent. As such, you are more than a technologist; you are a business leader, shaping strategy and delivering real-time commercial impact in a high growth, environment.

Reporting directly to the CEO, youll bring product vision, operational excellence, and a relentless focus on outcomes, introducing professional services level discipline to our product, tech and data functions. This isnt a role for a code first CTO; its for a builder, a strategist and a leader who thrives on turning complexity into competitive advantage and craves the opportunity to drive real, visible business change that starts from day one.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Partner with the CEO to convert our commercial vision into day-to-day tech execution that moves revenue, productivity, and margin within your first 90 days.
• Re architect the trading & settlement platform into a scalable, intuitive, best in class experience that sets new benchmarks for the global fine wine market.
• Turn data into strategy: define and roll out a comprehensive data program that reshapes how wine businesses price, trade, and operate.
• Champion rapid innovation, from RPA and analytics quick wins to the groundwork for AI/ML-driven pricing, logistics, and market intel services.
• Envision and ship products that extend beyond trading to leverage Liv-ex data to power customers entire workflow, from price discovery to sales strategy
• Transform data into user centred tools & dashboards that influence customer behaviour and unlocks new revenue streams.
• Re-imagine market intelligence capabilities: to deliver actionable insights and predictive analytics that delight customers and increase wallet share.
• Embed product management excellence and customer centric, data driven decision making across the team, through all stages of the life cycle.
• Oversee the data team including analysts, data science, ETL operations and QA
• Architect a modern tech stack that is cloud native, secure, and ready to scale globally balancing speed, resilience, and cost.
• Integrate best in class third party tools, acting as a systems integrator who can vet, deploy, and drive adoption across 550 business customers in 50 countries.
• Institute iron clad data governance & compliance, protecting customer trust while enabling frictionless innovation.
• Continuously raise the engineering bar, championing DevOps, test automation, and measurable quality metrics.
• Rebuild and inspire a high performing tech, product and data team
• Create a culture of innovation, ownership, and commercial focus, mentoring the next generation of product and technology leaders.
• Partner with executives, investors, and department heads to ensure every initiative is ROI driven and tightly aligned with business goals.
• Manage vendors and budgets with a value-creation lens, squeezing maximum impact from every pound and dollar.
• Establish and own a metrics framework that measures customer satisfaction, business impact and performance, ensuring transparency and accountability across product, data and tech.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• 10+ years of leadership experience in product and technology roles
• Proven track record of leading platform transformations and rebuilds
• Experience building and scaling product, engineering, and data teams (30+ people)
• Strong leadership approach with willingness to oversee execution
• Experience in growth-stage companies where leaders balance strategic thinking with tactical/ pragmatic execution
• Proven expertise in building trading platforms, data analytics, market and business intelligence tools would be a bonus

• Visionary thinking with the ability to translate strategy into executable roadmaps
• Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in fast-paced, transformation environments
• Exceptional communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels
• Collaborative style with experience of working with CEOs/ leadership teams

Technical Expertise:

• Deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud platforms, and scalable systems
• Experience with data platforms, analytics tools, and business intelligence solutions
• Hands-on leadership style with ability to work directly with teams and contribute to execution
• Comfortable being involved in product development and technical decisions
• Experience in smaller, agile organizations where leaders wear multiple hats
• Knowledge of trading systems, markets, or exchange dynamics preferred
• Familiarity with AI/ML applications to enhance delivery of product, software, business intelligence and analytics
