The Role
Voltloader is seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to join at a pivotal stage in its growth. With an ongoing Series A raise targeting approximately £50m, this role will play a critical part in supporting the business through this process and positioning it for rapid scale thereafter.
This is a hands‑on and strategic role suited to a CFO who thrives in high‑growth environments and has a proven track record of supporting scale‑ups through significant funding rounds and building robust, scalable financial infrastructure.
Initially, this role is expected to be part‑time alongside the fundraising activities, with the intention of transitioning to a 3‑5 day per week commitment following completion of the Series A raise (targeted for Q4). We are flexible as to whether this evolves into an ongoing full‑time or part‑time position at that stage.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to define and execute Voltloader’s growth strategy
Provide clear financial insight, modelling, and scenario planning to support key business decisions
Build and lead a high‑performing finance function appropriate for a scaling business
Act as a key Board member, presenting financial performance and strategic insight
Fundraising & Investor Engagement
Support the ongoing Series A fundraising process (~£50m), working alongside the leadership team and advisors
Refine and own financial models, forecasts, and supporting materials used in investor discussions
Engage with prospective investors as a credible financial leader
Help establish best‑in‑class investor reporting and communication frameworks post‑raise
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop and maintain robust financial models to support growth, fundraising, and strategic initiatives
Implement scalable budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking processes
Drive commercial insight across pricing, unit economics, and margin optimisation
Operational Finance & Controls
Build and implement scalable financial systems, processes and controls
Ensure strong cash management and capital allocation discipline
Oversee statutory reporting, compliance, and governance
Scale‑Up Execution
Prepare the business for rapid growth, including international expansion
Support ongoing financial events in the company including future fundraising to support growth, mergers and acquisitions, and/or shareholder exit scenarios
Ensure the company operates with the level of financial discipline and reporting expected of a well‑backed growth business
Candidate Profile
Experience
Proven experience as a CFO or senior finance leader in a high‑growth / scale‑up environment
Demonstrated involvement in significant equity fundraising rounds (Series A or beyond)
Strong experience working with venture capital and/or private equity investors
Background in building finance functions from early‑stage through scale
Experience in capital‑intensive or infrastructure‑related businesses is advantageous but not essential
Skills & Attributes
Highly commercial, with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insight
Strong modelling and analytical capability
Hands‑on approach with a willingness to operate at both strategic and operational levels
Credible and confident communicator with investors, board members, and stakeholders
High level of integrity, rigour, and attention to detail
Personal Characteristics
Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving scale‑up environment
Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented, and resilient
Ambitious and aligned with the company’s growth trajectory

Compensation: FTE salary of £120,000‑£150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Equity: Meaningful equity stake in the business through membership of our Leadership Team Incentive Plan which will provide a significant share of the growth that you help create.
