Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is seeking a Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) to lead digital transformation across our integrated mental health, community and specialist services.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on clinical practice. You will champion clinically-led digital innovation, ensure safe and inclusive digital solutions, and act as a trusted advisor to the Board. You'll also help drive system-wide digital collaborations.
We welcome applications from senior clinicians (medical or non-medical) with strong informatics leadership experience and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through technology, data, and co-designed innovation.
Main duties of the job The post holder will undertake regular clinical duties equivalent to 4 Programmed Activities (PAs) for a consultant or 0.4 Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) for non-medical staff.
The clinical component will be tailored to the candidate's background and professional interests, and agreed with the relevant Clinical Director and the Chief Medical Officer. Clinical work may be undertaken in mental health, physical health, or specialist services.
The post holder must be clinically competent and professionally registered (e.g., GMC specialist register, NMC, HCPC) and meet Trust standards for revalidation, CPD, supervision, and appraisal. The clinical component is substantive, not honorary, and the post holder is expected to deliver direct patient care.

Strategic Digital Leadership
Provide clinical leadership to develop and implement the Trusts Digital Strategy in alignment with the What Good Looks Like framework.
Act as a key clinical adviser to the Trust Board and executive leadership on digital health, AI, automation, and technology-enabled care.
Represent the Trust in system-wide digital initiatives across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care System.
Represent the Trust in national, regional and local digital transformation projects.
Support the delivery of national policies and strategies driving NHS digitisation, including the recently launched Fit for the Future: 10 year Health Plan for England
Clinical Informatics and Safety
Lead the development and implementation of safe, usable, and effective digital clinical systems.
Oversee clinical safety governance in line with NHS Digital safety standards (DCB0129/0160).
Champion the use of data and digital tools to enhance clinical quality, patient safety, and outcomes.
Serve as clinical lead or Senior Responsible Officer for major digital programmes (e.g., EPR optimisation, AI pilots, remote monitoring tools).
Work in partnership with the Trusts Cambridge Childrens Hospital digital lead to contribute to the development and implementation of the EPR and broader digital innovation programme within the new children's hospital.
Workforce Development & Capability Building
Promote the development of clinical informatics skills across all professional groups within the Trust, including analysts and clinicians. .
Mentor and support aspiring clinical informaticians across all professional groups.
Lead initiatives to build digital literacy and capability among clinical staff, supporting CPD and career development.
Support the integration of digital skills into clinical education.
Engagement & Change Leadership
Act as a visible and accessible digital leader across all services and professions.
Ensure meaningful co-design and engagement with service users, carers, and patientsin all aspects of digital and service transformation.
Work collaboratively with clinicians and digital teams to align transformation efforts with frontline clinical needs and best practice.
Support change management efforts by translating clinical needs into digital requirements and vice versa.
Equity & Inclusion
Promote digital inclusion and equity in service design and access for patients .
Champion the ethical use of health technologies including AI, predictive analytics, and automation.
Ensure that digital solutions meet the needs of diverse populations and vulnerable groups.
Research, Innovation and Partnerships
Support clinical research and improvement projects involving digital health or data science.
Collaborate with academic and industry partners to develop digital solutions aligned to the Trusts clinical strategy.

Key Responsibilities - Clinical Role and General
Specific clinical responsibilities will be agreed in consultation with the relevant Clinical Director, based on the postholders professional discipline, specialty, and substantive role.
Medical practitioners will be expected to practise in accordance with the General Medical Councils Good Medical Practice . Practitioners from other professional backgrounds will adhere to the equivalent standards set by their respective regulatory bodies.
