Job Description:
At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe everyone severely affected by mental illness deserves a life of dignity, hope, and opportunity. As a leading national charity, we deliver over 90 services across England and campaign for systemic change. We are now seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Business Improvement and Technology Officer (CITO) to join our Executive Team and help shape the future of mental health support in the UK.
About the Role
As CITO, you will lead the integration of technology, data, reporting, quality, and compliance across the organisation. You will drive digital transformation, embed continuous improvement, and ensure our systems and insights support everything from frontline care to national advocacy.
You will:
- Lead strategic technology development, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Oversee business performance, data insight, and impact reporting.
- Champion quality assurance, legal compliance, and risk management.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and service user focus.
- Represent Rethink in strategic forums and support our sister charity, Mental Health UK.
What Were Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Substantial senior leadership experience in technology, digital, data, or business improvement within a care, health, or social impact setting.
- Proven ability to develop and embed strategies that enhance service delivery and user experience.
- Strong track record in building data and insight functions that inform operations and advocacy.
- Experience overseeing IT infrastructure, digital platforms, and cybersecurity.
- Working knowledge of safeguarding, data protection, and confidentiality in the context of vulnerable people.
- Experience with performance management systems, quality assurance, and improvement frameworks.
- Strategic vision and the ability to align digital and data strategy with organisational goals.
- Strong insight and analytical skills to drive evidence-based decision-making.
- Expertise in digital innovation, change leadership, and assurance frameworks.
- Inclusive communication and stakeholder engagement across diverse audiences.
- Deep understanding of ethical considerations in data and digital use
