Job Title: Business Development – Key Account Manager
Reporting to: Managing Director
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Key Account Manager to join our Business Development team. This role is focused on developing profitable business streams in sectors with long-term growth potential, in line with our business marketing strategy. You will be instrumental in building and nurturing strong customer relationships, ensuring world-class service levels, and supporting the successful delivery of our commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
WIN: Build and maintain strong customer relationships, manage your pipeline, and deliver high-quality results.
GROW: Develop and enhance business relations, communicate value, and proactively drive customer engagement.
FOCUS: Understand customer requirements and perceptions of value, and align business offerings effectively.
COMMUNICATION: Coordinate internally and externally with key decision-makers to drive revenue growth and deliver strategic customer plans.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Support senior management in developing strategies for market opportunities.
Identify and convert customer demand opportunities into profitable contracts.
Liaise with engineering, planning, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
Manage multi-level customer engagement, including on-site visits.
Introduce new contracts to operations teams, ensuring all contractual and quality requirements are captured.
Manage CRM systems and provide timely KPI reports on business development activity, quotations, and win rates.
Make informed bid/no-bid decisions based on market and internal capacity insights.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen.
Integrity, openness, and a self-motivated, lead-by-example approach.
Exceptional customer focus and communication skills at all levels.
Track record of winning new business in compliance-led industries.
Extensive knowledge of modern CNC manufacturing, high-precision parts, materials, treatments, and quality standards.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
Experience:
Proven background in senior commercial roles, bidding for high-compliance work packages.
Senior technical/project management experience in CNC manufacturing and quotation/contracts.
Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
HNC/D or higher qualification in Production Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Project Management, or similar.
Apprentice-trained in CNC manufacturing.
Other Requirements:
Strong customer-service with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments under time pressure.
Flexible and capable of managing ad-hoc projects successfully.
Key Performance Indicators:
Growth of ongoing and new business in strategic markets.
Achievement of sales value/revenue targets with acceptable profit margins.
Support internal departments and liaise with customers to ensure successful contract delivery.
Accurate and timely reporting to senior management.
