Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking to make a real difference in social housing? bpha is seeking a proactive and technically skilled individual to join our Surveying Services team, ensuring our homes meet the highest standards for our customers.
About the Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will carry out a full range of technical surveying duties, specifying and managing repair works to our customers homes. Youll lead on the delivery and completion of damp, mould, and disrepair works across bphas stock, providing technical expertise and support to colleagues on complex repairs. Your work will ensure value for money, long-lasting repairs, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
As a Building Surveyor, you will be:
Conducting property inspections, diagnose issues, specify and manage repairs from start to completion
Leading on damp, mould, and disrepair works, ensuring compliance with legislation and bpha standards
Providing technical support and advice to colleagues and customers
Supervising external contractors, ensuring quality and compliance with health and safety standards
Delivering excellent customer service, maintaining communication and satisfaction throughout the repair process
Ensuring adherence to bpha policies, financial regulations, and procedures
What were looking for as a Building Surveyor:
Essential Skills & Attributes:
Numerate with strong communication skills and ability to produce high-quality written reports
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and housing/asset management systems
Demonstrated customer care skills and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
Ability to negotiate, influence, and deal with difficult situations
Knowledge & Experience:
In-depth knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and social housing legislation
Experience dealing with Housing Disrepair/Housing Condition Claims
Knowledge of schedule of rates and health and safety legislation (including HHSRS)
Understanding of the social housing environment and bpha customer requirements
Qualifications:
HNC/HND or similar professional qualification in a construction-related field (essential)
Certified HHSRS Practitioner (essential)
Membership of CIOB, RICS, or another construction-related professional body (essential)
Trade qualification to NVQ L3 or above (desirable)
