About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Bookkeeping and VAT Manager to step into a key role within a growing and sociable team based in Ashford.
This Bookkeeping and VAT Manager role offers the chance to take ownership of a team, with strong potential for a long-term management role within the firm.
Lead and manage a small, energetic team of junior staff
Oversee workflow and ensure deadlines are consistently met
Review and prepare VAT returns (10–15 per cycle)
Conduct 80–100 VAT reviews with accuracy and efficiency
Ensure all VAT submissions are completed on time
Support bookkeeping activities using Xero and QuickBooks
Maintain high standards across all client work
This is a fast-paced environment where organisation and leadership are key.
What we are looking for

The ideal Bookkeeping and VAT Manager will be confident, organised, and capable of leading from the front.
Proven experience preparing and reviewing high volume VAT returns
Strong bookkeeping knowledge (Xero and QuickBooks essential)
Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
Ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
Confident communicator with a proactive mindset
