The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategically minded Bid team lead to lead bid governance and drive excellence across the organisation's bidding activity. This senior role will oversee the end-to-end bid function, ensuring alignment with business objectives while fostering a high-performance, commercially focused bid team.
Working closely with board-level executives and senior stakeholders, the postholder will shape and refine the organisation's bid pipeline, prioritising high-value opportunities and supporting sustainable, long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence - Bid Management
Lead the development of innovative and compelling bid strategies that improve win rates and long-term profitability.
Ensure robust bid governance, compliance, and quality assurance across all submissions.
Financial Accountability - Bid Pipeline Oversight
Develop and maintain a rolling bid pipeline, ensuring strategic prioritisation of high-value and high-probability opportunities.
Provide insight and reporting on bid performance, forecasting, and return on investment.
Customer Focus - Stakeholder Relationships
Work collaboratively with operational, commercial, and service delivery teams to develop bids that reflect deliverable, high-quality service propositions.
Engage confidently with senior internal and external stakeholders, including executive and board-level contacts.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement within the bid function through process transformation.
Leverage digital tools and AI to enhance bid writing, tracking, data analysis, and performance insights.
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a senior bid leadership role within social housing (essential).
Exceptional strategic thinking and business development capability.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing senior bid professionals.
Demonstrable experience driving process improvement and transformation within a bid function.
Expert-level bid writing, storytelling, and persuasive proposal development skills.
High-level stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
