SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist
Location: Bristol (BS16)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Full-time | Term Time Only
Monarch Education is working with a well-respected primary school in Bristol that supports a high number of pupils aged 3-11 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex learning needs. The school is known for its warm, structured environment and its commitment to helping every student reach their full potential‑academically, socially, and emotionally.
We’re looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference. If you’re patient, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, this could be the perfect role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting students with ASD in the classroom, helping them stay engaged and focused.
- Working one-to-one or in small groups to deliver tailored learning and emotional support.
- Helping with sensory activities and structured routines.
- Assisting teachers with lesson prep and classroom organisation.
- Encouraging independence and celebrating small wins every day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, especially ASD.
- Someone who’s caring, reliable, and not afraid to get stuck in.
- Good communication skills and a team‑player attitude.
- Any relevant training (e.g. Autism Awareness, Team Teach) is a bonus-but not essential.
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- The school has a great team and a really supportive atmosphere.
- There’s on‑site parking and easy bus links, so getting there is simple.
- You’ll be part of something genuinely rewarding, helping students grow in confidence and ability.
- Monarch Education offers ongoing support, training, and opportunities to progress.
