Associate Director – Civil Engineering\n\nGloucester\nUp to £80,000 + bonus + comprehensive benefits\n\nA well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Gloucester is seeking an Associate Director (Civil Engineering) to lead the technical and commercial delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure and development projects across the South West, South Wales, and the wider UK.\n\nThis is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer looking to combine hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, client engagement, and strategic input.\n\nThe Consultancy\n\nThe business provides civil and structural engineering services across a broad range of sectors, including:\n\nResidential and commercial developments\n\nSocial and affordable housing\n\nCare and healthcare facilities\n\nRenewable energy and infrastructure projects\n\nIndustrial and logistics developments\n\nBrownfield and remediation schemes\n\nEmerging opportunities within rail and transport infrastructure\n\nWhile projects are delivered nationwide, the majority of work is based across the South West and South Wales.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Associate Director, you will take responsibility for:\n\nLeading the technical delivery of civil engineering projects across highways, drainage, and infrastructure\n\nEnsuring design quality, compliance, and technical excellence across all stages\n\nOverseeing project financial performance, fees, and resource planning\n\nActing as a senior point of contact for clients and key stakeholders\n\nManaging, mentoring, and developing engineers and technicians\n\nReviewing and approving calculations, reports, and technical submissions\n\nContributing to business growth, work-winning, and long-term strategy\n\nYou will remain technically active while playing a key role in leadership, quality management, and consultancy performance.\n\nAbout You\n\n8+ years’ post-graduate experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy\n\nDegree qualified (BEng / MEng) in Civil Engineering\n\nChartered (ICE) or operating at Chartered-equivalent level\n\nStrong background in highways, drainage, and civil infrastructure design\n\nExperienced in adoption processes including Section 38, Section 278, Section 104, and Section 106\n\nProficient or knowledgeable in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage, and AutoCAD\n\nConfident leading teams and managing complex projects\n\nStrong commercial awareness and client-facing capability\n\nFull UK driving licence\n\nExperience in client management, business development, or mentoring is highly advantageous.\n\nWhat’s On Offer\n\nSalary up to £80,000, depending on experience\n\nPerformance-related bonus scheme\n\nClear progression toward Director level (for those who wish)\n\nFlexible and hybrid working arrangements\n\nGenerous annual leave allowance\n\nEnhanced employer pension contributions\n\nPayment of professional membership fees\n\nOngoing CPD, mentoring, and leadership development\n\nPrivate healthcare and additional wellbeing benefits\n\nCycle-to-work and lifestyle benefit schemes\n\nSupportive, people-focused consultancy culture\n\nApply\n\nIf you are an Associate Director or Principal Civil Engineer looking for a leadership role in Gloucester with real influence over projects, people, and strategy, please apply or contact Steven Hill for a confidential discussion
