The Role As Associate Director, you will lead multidisciplinary civil engineering projects, manage client relationships, and drive commercial performance. You will contribute to strategic decisions while playing a key role in team development and project delivery. Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver civil engineering projects across development, infrastructure, and built-environment sectors. Oversee commercial management including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor. Support business development activities, including bids and proposals. Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practice. Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting a collaborative and high-performing culture. Contribute to strategic planning and operational leadership within the Birmingham office.
About You We’re looking for a strong leader with both technical depth and commercial awareness. Essential Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred. Significant consultancy experience delivering civil engineering projects. Demonstrable commercial acumen with experience managing project finances and risk. Proven ability to win work and nurture long‑term client relationships. Excellent communication skills with the ability to represent the consultancy confidently. Experience leading, developing, and inspiring engineering teams.
