At Tomato Plant is a haulage and infrastructure maintenance company and are proud of their attainment of FORs Gold and commitment to their clients and delivering work at a very high standard. This is allowing us to build an expanding client base and expand our fleet and personnel. As such they are looking to recruit a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Transport Manager to support the Transport Manager in overseeing daily fleet operations, compliance, and driver management. This role is critical in ensuring smooth logistics, regulatory adherence, and cost-effective transport services. This is an ideal position for either a recently qualified CPC holder or a route to gain this qualification.
The Key Responsibilities Monitor vehicle maintenance, defect reporting, MOTs, PMI planning, and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Supervise drivers regarding compliance, track working hours, monitor infringements, and promote safe driving practices. Support cost control initiatives by reducing non-contract maintenance and damage costs. Provide operational reports and support audits when required. Undertake accident investigations and reporting.
Skills & Qualifications Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements. Experience with fleet management systems Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Strong communication skills for liaising with managers, drivers, and customers. IT proficiency in Microsoft office suite; logistics and fleet management software.
Experience Requirements Minimum 2 years in transport/logistics, ideally in a supervisory or assistant management role. Understanding of Road Haulage Operations and compliance to surrounding legislation would be desirable. Holding either HGV class 1 or 2 desirable. Familiarity with compliance audits and operational reporting. Proven ability to support large-scale fleet operations, often in 24/7 environments.
