SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for Assistant Shift Team Leader / Shift Operations Technician to join a new build EFW power station near Chelmsford, Essex.

Operating within a 5-shift rota, this role supports the Shift Team Leader in the safe, efficient and compliant running of the power station. The Assistant STL will play a key role in operational coordination, safety leadership and frontline team supervision.

The role will involve:

Operating and supervising plant systems via the DCS to maintain stable performance

Driving compliance with site safety rules, permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures

Supporting the day-to-day coordination of plant operations and material handling activities

Leading and developing a team of production technicians on shift

Ensuring emissions, licence conditions and environmental standards are maintained at all times

Coordinating with maintenance teams to facilitate planned and reactive works

Managing bunker operations, consumables and residue handling

Supporting grid and external interface coordination where required

Contributing to shift planning, reporting and operational performance reviews

To be considered for this role, you should have:

Proven experience at Shift Operator, Shift Technician, Process Operator or similar in a heavy process industry e.g. power generation, chemical, paper production, pharmaceutical, cement etc

A technical engineering qualification would be preferred e.g. ONC/NVQ/City & Guilds

Strong understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures

Strong experience of DCS / SCADA operations

A methodical, safety-first mindset with strong problem-solving ability
