Francis James is a new independent higher education provider, offering degree programmes in construction. We are looking for an academic quality assurance manager to develop and implement quality procedures that ensure the effectiveness of our online delivery model.

Our academic quality assurance manager will:

• Plan activities to monitor delivery and assessment including teaching observations and sampling of assessment
• Carry out standardisation and moderation activities with assessors/markers
• Engage with programme external examiners, enabling their oversight of quality
• Provide developmental feedback, including identifying areas for improvement
• Maintain electronic records of quality assurance, including data collection and monitoring
• Develop reports on quality for institution committees, and support the running of academic committees

The successful candidate will have experience of quality assurance in education and knowledge of quality assurance practices in a UK higher education setting.

We are happy to receive applications for part time (3 or 4 days/week) or full time employment in this role; salary for the full time role will be between £35,000 and £40,000. The successful candidate will be able to mostly work from home, with occasional attendance at our office in Bedford for meetings.

Person Specification

Essential knowledge/experience

• Experience of managing academic quality assurance processes and systems
• Knowledge of higher education quality assurance practices and frameworks
• Excellent organisational, IT and communication skills
• Ability to solve problems, working autonomously with initiative when needed
• Experience of building and maintaining successful relationships with staff at all levels

Desirable knowledge/experience

• Knowledge and experience of the construction industry
• Experience of representing institutions during external scrutiny, including preparing for and facilitating reviews and monitoring
