Are you a compassionate and resilient individual with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Academics Ltd is currently recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a welcoming primary school in Slough. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference in a child's education and wellbeing.

The Role:

As a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil who requires additional emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in helping the child engage with learning, develop positive coping strategies, and feel safe and supported within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs

Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team

Help adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs

Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural needs or SEN (school, youth work, care or similar settings) A calm, patient and resilient approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service

This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, SEN teachers, counsellors or therapists, or anyone passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
